Calidad de vida en usuarios infanto-juveniles de audífonos

Abstract

Introducción: Actualmente la calidad de vida abarca múltiples aspectos, siendo importante conocerla en términos de salud y comunicación. Este estudio tiene como propósito describir y caracterizar la calidad de vida de infanto-juveniles usuarios de audífonos. Materiales y método: Los cuestionarios fueron aplicados a 20 usuarios de audífonos con edades entre 9 y 18 años, implementados en la Universidad de Talca y beneficiarios de JUNAEB. Se analizó la confiabilidad de los resultados del YQOL-DHH mediante Alfa de Cronbach. Se analizó con estadística descriptiva, generando tablas y gráficos con los resultados. Resultados y conclusiones: Se observó que gran parte de la muestra, posee una autopercepción positiva y una baja percepción de estigma social debido a su condición, la cual además, les dificulta al establecer relaciones sociales. La mayoría usa su audífono gran parte del día y han notado un alto grado de mejoría desde que comenzaron su uso, refiriendo que su condición no afecta en gran medida su vida y no molesta a otros. Cuanto mayor el grado de pérdida auditiva, la percepción de su dificultad, también será alta. Se puede concluir que existe un impacto en la calidad de vida, siendo necesaria generar instrumentos que puedan ser utilizados en Chile para caracterizar y describir este impacto.Palabras claves: Calidad de vida, audioprótesis, infanto-juveniles./ABSTRACT: Introduction: Currently, the quality of life covers multiple aspects, being important to know it in terms of health and communication. The purposes of this research are: describe and characterize the quality of life of children and youth who use hearing aids. Equipment and method: The questionnaires were applied on twenty hearing aids users whose ages fluctuated between 9 and 18 years, they were taken in the “Universidad de Talca” and beneficiaries from JUNAEB. It was analyzed the reliability of the results of the YQOL-DHH questionnaire through Cronbach alpha. It was analyzed by using descriptive statistics, generating tables and graphs with the results. Results and conclusions: it was observed that a big portion of the sample have a positive self-perception and a low social stigma perception due to their condition, which also makes difficult to establish social relations. Most of the sample uses their hearing aids almost the whole day and they have realized that they have improved since the beginning of the treatment, adding that their condition does not affect either their daily life or other people. The greater the hearing loss, the perception of their difficulty, will be great as well. It can be concluded that there is an impact in quality of life, being required the creation of new instruments which can be used to characterize and describe this impact in Chile.
