Palabras clave: Trastorno específico de lenguaje, resolución temporal, integración biaural./ABSTRACT:Traditionally the diagnosis of specific language impairment (SLI) has been performed by exclusion. However, in recent years, the study of the problems associated with SLI, such as difficulties in auditory processing abilities has increased. The aim of this research was to investigate whether performance in auditory processing tasks was associated with linguistic aspects and neuropsychological skills such as working memory and sustained attention in children with SLI. For the purposes of this research a total of 60 children were selected. Children were divided into two groups of 30 children with SLI and 30 control children with typical language development. They were matched for age and gender. All children were evaluated with a battery of psychoacoustic and neuropsychological tests. Nonparametric analyses were performed using the U Mann Whitney test and Spearman correlation, as well as multiple regression models. The results show than children with SLI performed significantly worse than control group children for each of the task. The multiple regression models show that deficits in auditory skills can not be explained by the low performance in attention and auditory working memory. Key words: Specific language impairment, temporal resolution, binaural integration
